Water Treatment

Water Treatment

Water treatment is a process involving diverse types of operations (physical, chemical, physicochemical, and biological), the aim of which is to eliminate and/or reduce contamination or non-desirable characteristics of water.

MWE can assist in analysing water and advise on treatment requirements for its intended use. Further, proper application and monitoring of treatment and the results are essential.

Waste Water Treatment

Waste Water Treatment

Wastewater treatment is a process which removes and eliminates contaminants from wastewater and converts this into an effluent that can be returned to the water cycle.

Once returned to the water cycle, the effluent creates an acceptable impact on the environment or is reused for various purposes (water reclamation). MWE can assist in the process of determining the requirements for water recycling, re-use or treatment and release back into nature.

Water Management

Water Management

As SA is considered water stressed, multiple sources of available water may be required to be used for sustainability. Various sources of water bring their own challenges in being able to use the water for a specific purpose.

MWE can assist in the required treatment of incoming and effluent water, but also assist in determining where water can be used most efficiently, be saved, or reclaimed and reused. This can be achieved by assisting with proper monitoring of usages in processes and advise interventions for savings.

Analytical &
Microbiocidal Analysis

Analytical &
Microbiocidal Analysis

In the Food & Beverage Industry, the use of safe water is imperative. Analytical and microbiological tests are required to monitor water quality continually. These analyses can be done in-house, to an extent, and further, be outsourced to accredited laboratories.

MWE can assist with the determination of testing requirements, and advise on and provide equipment, consumables, or reagents for in- house testing.

Food Safety

Microbiology Consulting

Microbiology Consulting

The control of naturally occurring microbes and pathogens in the environment, particularly in water, food, and the built environment, is becoming increasingly challenging for organisations who aims at producing safe products.

MWE can assist in microbiological (pathogen) troubleshooting and solutions. (e.g., Listeria source determination, tracking and monitoring) for product or processing problems experienced.

Environmental Hygiene
Management & Monitoring

Environmental Hygiene
Management & Monitoring

Throughout the food manufacturing process, the environment associated with raw and final product storage, the production areas and even the workers, play a significant role in ensuring proper safety of food products.

MWE can assist in evaluating the environmental hygiene risks and challenges of the entire production processes in the respective locations and advise on appropriate control measures. Proper monitoring of control measures can be provided to ensure effectiveness.

Analytical &
Microbiocidal Analysis

Analytical &
Microbiocidal Analysis

In the Food & Beverage Industry, numerous analytical and microbiological tests are required to eventually provide the consumer with a safe product to consume. These analyses are done in-house, to an extent, and further outsourced to accredited laboratories.

MWE can assist with the determination of testing required, and advise on and provide equipment, consumables or reagents for in-house testing or laboratories.

Corrosion Protection

Corrosion monitoring

Corrosion monitoring

Because water has the potential of corroding metals by being unsaturated, containing aggressive chemical components, etc., it is important to monitor the amount of metal loss in a system, whether it is treated or not. MWE can provide the required equipment and analyses to determine corrosion rates in particular water systems.

Direct Corrosion Protection

Direct Corrosion Protection

Corrosion in the production environment is not only limited to water. Environmental conditions can also affect metal-containing equipment or electronics in various manners, like water ingress or spray, high humidities, or salt vapours. Direct protection of such components is the direct application of a Vapour phase Corrosion Inhibitor onto the affected metal surface. For internal use, the product is water- based, which will dry and leave a thin protective layer. For external use, an oil-based product is used, that forms an oily layer that excludes water from the surface being protected. MWE can provides the necessary advice, products, and application service for such protective products.

Indirect Corrosion Protection

Indirect Corrosion Protection

In the Food & Beverage Industry, numerous analytical and microbiological tests are required to eventually provide the consumer with a safe product to consume. These analyses are done in-house, to an extent, and further outsourced to accredited laboratories. MWE can assist with determination of testing required, and advise on and provide equipment, consumables or reagents for in-house testing or laboratories.
